Prior to the 2006 closing of the Bojanowo Brewery (called Browar Bojanowo in Polish), the city had a long history of beer making. The origins of local commercial brewing date back to 1658. A century later in 1793 there were two private breweries operating in Bojanowo. The current and now closed Bojanowo Brewery was established another century later in 1881, and by 1891 its production volume was using over 40 tons of malt. By the mid 1980s this same brewery was producing over 250,000 hectoliters of brand label beer.
The Bojanowo Brewery was renowned both nationally and internationally for producing three types of beer, Bojanowo Mocne (mocne means strong in Polish), Bojanowo Szwejka Pilsener, and Bojanowo Szwejka Pilsener Zielony (zielony means green in Polish). Now that production has stopped and the brewery has closed, its unopened beer bottles are in high demand amongst beer enthusiasts from Poland and abroad. The brewery's beer bottles, bottle labels, and beer coasters are also sought out by collectors.
